Margaret RogersProfessor Emerita (Translation and Terminology Studies)University of Surrey, Guildford, UK With a background in Applied Linguistics and as a long-standing researcher and teacher of modern languages, Margaret Rogers now works mainly in the area of specialised translation, in which she has published widely. Having served as Director of the Centre for Translation Studies in the School of English and Languages at Surrey from 2003 to 2013, she now devotes her time to reviewing, examining, lecturing and writing. Arising initially from her early collaborative work on Computer-Assisted Language Learning, during the 1990s she co-managed a number of EU-supported projects developing software tools for terminology and translation applications. More recently she was a co-investigator on a number of EU-supported projects on remote interpreting. She is currently Series Editor of Palgrave Studies in Translating and Interpreting (https://www.palgrave.com/in/series/14574) and is a regular reviewer for a number of publishers, funders and academic journals. Recent publications include a Special Issue of JosTrans on Terminology, Phraseology and Translation and a co-edited Special Issue of mTm on Translation in a Time of Austerity. Her latest book (2015, Palgrave Macmillan) is Specialised Translation: Shedding the ‘non-literary’ Tag. She is currently working on a 3rd edition of Thinking German Translation. A Course in Translation Method, German to English (Routledge) with a colleague at St. Andrews University. She is particularly interested in exploring new opportunities in translation and language learning. |

PROFESSOR DR. ZAHARANI AHMAD |

Dr. Zaharani Ahmad ialah seorang ahli akademik yang telah banyak menyumbangkan khidmat dan kepakarannya dalam bidang pendidikan, khususnya di peringkat pengajian tinggi. Beliau memperoleh ijazah MA (Linguistics) dari University of Hawaii at Manoa, USA (1988), dan ijazah PhD (Linguistics) dari University of Essex, United Kingdom (1998). Bidang kepakaran beliau adalah fonologi dan morfologi bahasa Melayu. Sebagai seorang pensyarah di universiti awam, sumbangan beliau dalam bidang pengajaran/penyeliaan, penerbitan, dan penyelidikan sangat memberangsangkan. Ramai pelajar pasca siswazah sama ada peringkat Doktor Falsafah mahupun Sarjana telah berjaya dihasilkan melalui pengajaran dan penyeliaannya yang baik dan berkesan. Dari segi penerbitan, beliau telah banyak menghasilkan buku ilmiah yang menjadi rujukan pelajar di peringkat pengajian tinggi, dan juga makalah ilmiah yang diterbitkan dalam jurnal tempatan mahupun antarabangsa. Antara buku beliau yang dikenali umum ialah Fonologi Autosegmental: Penerapannya Pada Bahasa Melayu (2006), Pembentukan Kata Ganda Separa Bahasa Melayu (2007), Aspek Nahu Praktis Bahasa Melayu (2008), dan Aspek Fonologi Bahasa Melayu: Daripada Derivasi Rumus Kepada Tatatingkat Kekangan (2014). Penglibatan dan sumbangan Zaharani dalam bidang penyelidikan sama ada secara persendirian atau berkumpulan juga sangat memberangsangkan. Beliau terlibat dengan penyelidikan IRPA yang ditaja oleh Kementerian Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi (MOSTI), projek penyelidikan FRGS tajaan Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi dan juga projek tajaan Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka. Sebahagian daripada hasil penyelidikan ini dirujuk dan menjadi input kepada penggubalan dasar dan pelan tindakan pendidikan negara. Antaranya, Kajian Pengajaran dan Pembelajaran Sains dan Matematik dalam Bahasa Inggeris dalam Konteks Kepelbagaian Pelajar (2005) dan Kajian Penggunaan Bahasa di IPTA (2011). |

Brian Tomlinson has worked as a teacher, teacher trainer, curriculum developer, film extra, football coach and university academic in Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Nigeria, Oman, Singapore, UK, Vanuatu and Zambia, as well as giving presentations in over seventy countries. He is Founder and President of MATSDA (the international Materials Development Association), an Honorary Visiting Professor at the University of Liverpool, a Professor at the Shanghai International Studies University and a TESOL Professor at Anaheim University. He has over one hundred publications on materials development, language through literature, the teaching of reading, language awareness and teacher development, including Discover English (with Rod Bolitho), Openings, Materials Development in Language Teaching, Developing Materials for Language Teaching, Research for Materials Development in Language Learning (with Hitomi Masuhara), Applied Linguistics and Materials Development and SLA Theory and Materials Development for Language Learning. He has just co-authored with Hitomi Masuhara The Complete Guide to the Theory and Practice of Materials Development for Language Learning, which will be published by Wiley in 2017. |

Dr. Hitomi Masuhara is Higher Education Academy Fellow, a lecturer in the University of Liverpool and Secretary of MATSDA (Materials Development Association). Her research, interests include language learning, materials development and language & cultures. She has worked in universities in Japan, Oman, Singapore and UK and has worked on international projects and given presentations and workshops in more than 30 countries. She has published many books, book chapters and articles. |
